In that time I have sought to champion the importance of green infrastructure and place-making, and have led SNH’s input to the Central Scotland Green Network.

Fiona Strachan - Green Infrastructure Project Manager

I have worked in environmental project management for over 10 years in such diverse areas as woodfuel supply chains, ecological surveying and most recently Scottish wildcat conservation. I have a background in field ecology, with a PhD in avian ecology and over the years have worked on many different bird species including zebra finches, ospreys and golden plover.

I have worked in various roles, both professional and voluntary, in the environmental sector for more than 20 years. My degree in landscape architecture has allowed me to enjoy a career managing greenspace programmes for lottery distributors and improving parks and delivering Greenspace Strategies for a number of local authorities.

I studied Ecological Science at Edinburgh in the 80s, and have been mostly people focussed since then. Before working for SNH, I was a countryside ranger and a teacher in primary schools. I’ve worked for SNH from our Aberdeen and Fort William offices and have been heavily involved in community based partnerships.
